Recent graduates
2010 Grads:
Pat studied astronomy and elementary education, spending significant amounts of time volunteering in a fourth-grade classroom. He has now enrolled in Skagit Valley College to keep his mind busy while making longer range educational decisions.
Lindsay pursued literature, both reading and writing, and also photography, videography, and visual perception. Lindsay produced a screenplay as part of her project and completed an honors course in linguistics. Lindsay is now a student at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Grant focused on visual art, music, and three-dimensional computer animation in his final term work. He was accepted to Western Washington University the day before his 17th birthday and is now enrolled there, taking engineering, computer design, and art courses.
Marina studied pharmacology, physical fitness and nutrition as central elements of her self-designed final term, as well as completing an internship in a clinic, as part of her preparation for a career in the medical sciences. Marina is currently taking classes at Whatcom Community College.
Grayson investigated physiology and physical education and also studied fictional languages, with a particular focus upon translating text from JRR Tolkein's Elvish language. Gray is currently focusing his time after high school on entrepreneurship endeavors.
2011 Grads:
Andrea Paganinova, from the Czech Republic, studied at Explorations for two years. She is now back in the Czech Republic preparing to enter university there. During her final term at Explorations, Andrea studied Italian. Her goal was to be able to communicate better with her father who speaks Italian as well as include another language to her repertoire which adds to her ability to communicate as a member of the European Union.
Theo Krantz studied at Explorations for four years. During his final term he studied Botany, Comparative Religions and Audio & Visual Manipulation and Experimentation. He also served as an intern for the Spanish course at Explorations. After taking a year to work and orient himself towards his future, Theo plans to attend St. Johns College in Arizona on a full-ride scholarship.
Merissa Combel studied at Explorations for two years. In her final term she created an internship working as a caregiver for a child with learning disabilities. Additionally, she created a curricula in Poetry and wrote and illustrated a children's book using animal characters as an analogy for the unrest in the Middle East. Merissa is currently working as a nanny and saving money to start college.
Cydnee Straussner studied at Explorations for two years. Capitalizing on her interest in children and developmental psychology, Cydnee completed her final term at Samish School as an intern as well as volunteering time at the Whatcom County Humane Society. Cydnee is currently enrolled at the Toni and Guy Hairdressing Academy and making plans for her future.
2012 Grads:
Erik Sellstrom attended Explorations for four years. He created an art portfolio and studying Existential Literature during his final term at Explorations and is applying to art schools for Fall 2012.
