- 100 Youth Voices!
- Students at Explorations in their Research and Debate course have been examining issues of energy, transportation and the environment through research and debate. Now they have planned an event on November 17 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. for young people to learn and express their voice on an proposal at the intersection of local and national discussion. Students from Whatcom and neighboring counties are invited to participate in “100 YOUTH VOICES” – a free youth forum and discussion on the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal at Cherry Point.

- Explorations Awarded One-Year VISTA Position
- Explorations Academy will be hiring a Resource Development Assistant awarded through the Opportunity Council as a VISTA position. Recruitment is underway. We expect to have this new staff person on board on April 20, 2012.

- It Takes a Village of Voices!
- Nearly 100 youth from Squalicum, Bellingham, Sehome, Ferndale, and other area high schools attended the November 17th “100 Youth Voices!” event sponsored by Explorations Academy. Youth heard from speakers for and against the terminal, discussed information related to the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal, then voiced their questions, perspectives, support and concerns.
- Join us for Visitor Night February 1!
- Join students and their families interested in learning more about Explorations Academy's experiential approach to high school! Potential students and their families will have an opportunity to meet teachers, hear about our philosophy, tour our school and talk with students. If you are open to new approaches to learning and about an "education that matters", do not miss this event! As part of the event visitors will be able to join in a discussion about how academics can incorporate storytelling and new media as vehicles for student expression and experiential learning.

- Sunrise Rotary Event to Benefit Explorations!
- Explorations Academy has been chosen as one of three organizations that the Sunrise Rotary will be raising awareness and financial support for through their annual fundraiser, Oysterfest! If you want to participate, you can attend the event on February 4th, at 6 PM at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club. Tickets are $100. Contact Explorations to sign up for tickets to this event.
- Thailand Expedition Safely on their Way
- The Thailand Expedition this year is Explorations Academy's 10th international trip. What will they be studying? With biologically diverse jungles, thickly forested mountains, pristine coastline, and a rich cultural and religious heritage, students will see a Thailand's exceptional natural and cultural beauty. They will experience urban centers of powerful 21st Century economic development to remote highlands that are home to cultures and religious traditions almost entirely cut off from the outside world. In these varied settings, students will discover abundant opportunities to investigate the beautiful culture, history, and wonders of Thailand.
