Bellingham Schools say NO to Alfie Kohn

Flyers about the Alfie Kohn lecture Explorations Academy and Whatcom Day Academy are co-sponsoring will NOT be appearing on bulletin boards in Bellingham's public schools. 

Citing philosophical issues, district spokesperson Marilyn Grams refused to allow event information to be posted in Bellingham schools.  "It was felt the information was inconsistent with our mission" she said.  Apparently that mission does not include the free exchange of ideas! 

Read the article "Dangerous Ideas" in the Cascadia Weekly, which includes an interview with Alfie Kohn.  Then decide for yourself if these ideas are too controversial for the school district to allow teachers and parents to access.
