Contact Bacchus to arrange a student visit.

No School Monday, April 29

This coming Monday will be our monthly in-service staff training. If there is anything that you would like us to address at our meeting, please contact Bacchus to add items to our agenda.

Parent Night

On Monday, May 6, we will be hosting a parent night for families. Please join us for an opportunity to discuss our Spring Gala, upcoming backpacking trips, and changes that you would like to see for next year. The event begins at 6:30 pm in the lower level theater.

Students Stand With Governor Jay Inslee

Students in the gender cluster spent Wednesday at the capitol building in Olympia, meeting elected officials in our state government. They met with both House Representatives from the 42nd Legislative District (which includes downtown Bellingham) and delivered to each a list of concerns and questions compiled by EA’s student body. They also stood behind Governor (and presidential candidate) Jay Inslee as he signed into law HB 1930, which provides support for nursing mothers in the workplace.

College Bound Scholarships: 7th and 8th Graders Can Apply for Early Aid Commitment

The College Bound Scholarship is a state aid program that promises college financing to qualified middle schoolers who sign up and fulfill the scholarship pledge through high school. Middle school families: don’t miss this opportunity to help secure your student’s college goals. Deadline for application is June 30 of the student’s 8th-grade year. See the College Bound website for eligibility and application information.

Only a Few Blisteramas Left This Year

Spring is the season for gardening and cleaning and we have a few Blisterama events left this term. If you have not signed up for a Blisterama yet, please take a look at the schedule to find a work party that suits your interests and schedule. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help with projects around the building. If you have not yet fulfilled your volunteer commitment to the school, there are many ways to offer help between now and the end of the year. See the Blisterama sign-up or scroll down for our odd-jobs list.

Family Volunteers: We Still Have Jobs for You!

Thank you to everyone who has put in valuable hours helping our school look good and run well. Staff has compiled a wish-list of miscellaneous jobs around the building that we would love parent help with. Jobs include:

-Assist with HVAC projects
-ASL interpretation
-Construct display cases for large student projects
-Build and install wall-mount shelving around the school
-Hang pictures in the central classroom
-Organize library collection
-Organize backstage of the theater
-Build and install lockable doors on bike shelter

Sounds fun! Please contact Bacchus if any of these are within your skill-set and interest.

Paddle Board Raffle Is On!

As part of our spring fundraising drive, we are raffling off a stand-up paddleboard. This Wavestorm board is valued at over $500 and includes a paddle and cover. You can buy tickets in the EA office at $1 each, or 6 for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn live at the Spring Gala. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy, and you do not need to be present to win. Enter early and often!

Tickets on Sale Now

We appreciate all of the donations we have received so far, and are still looking for a few more feature items. We would love to be able to offer more amazing experiences. Vacation home rentals, flights, boat rides, and ski passes are at the top of our wish list. If you know anyone willing to contribute such things, please consult our auction catalog and be in touch with us. Thank you for your support and effort to make this fundraiser a success!
