May 15, 2020
May 20-22 – Family Activity Days: No School
Monday, May 25 – Memorial Day: No School
Tuesday, June 2 – Term End Celebration
Wednesday, June 3 – Last Day of Zoom Classes
Friday, June 12 – Self-Assessments Due; Start of Summer Vacation
As much as we hoped to be able to offer the Final Expedition this year, we have come to the sad conclusion that we will not be able to offer this beloved end-of-year ritual. Consequently, our last day of formal classes will be Wednesday, June 3. Students will have from June 4 – June 12 (our scheduled last day of the year) to complete self-assessments and participate in our all-school reading challenge (details to come). Advisors will be available by appointment during this time to assist with self-assessments.
This will be our first year not ending the year with an extended backpacking trip, but we very much want to provide the opportunity for students to get outside when they are able. Thus, we will be lending out gear, offering consultation on routes and logistics planning, and offering credit for those students who pursue extended backpacking trips on their own (there will be no independent contract fee required for this option). We are also happy to help coordinate efforts between families who would appreciate assistance with carpooling, sharing resources, or accessing public lands. Please contact your child’s advisor to initiate this assistance. Our office will be minimally staffed during the summer, so please provide at least one week’s notice to allow for delayed responses.
Enjoy Your Long Weekend!
Memorial Day Weekend is often the start to the summer recreation season. While circumstances are a bit different this year, we hope that all of you find ways to get outside, stretch your legs, and enjoy the outdoor bounty our region has to offer. We have set aside time for family activities next week, so students have a 6-day break coming up before we head into finals and Term End. Please be in touch with your child’s advisor if you want help with gear or activity planning. Regardless of your plans, we wish you a happy and healthy Memorial Day.
