EA Planning “Local Outings” to Replace Seattle Field Trips
Out of an abundance of caution in regards to the changing situation with the coronavirus, we have decided to cancel the upcoming urban outing for both middle school and high school students. This cancellation only applies for the trips scheduled for March. The later outings remain on the calendar.
While we hesitate to take students into dense urban centers, we will still provide the experiences and field trips that students love on a “local outing” right here at home. We already have a few great opportunities lined up, and look forward to filling out the itineraries with plenty of excellent, cluster-related content. Students will not have regular classes on these days, but instead will spend their time outside of the building meeting experts in their field of study, visiting working science labs, and touring different facilities. We will release students at the normal time.
Planning Meeting for 25th Anniversary Spring Gala
Please join Joy and Liz to help us plan our 25th Anniversary Celebration and Spring Gala! We’ll meet Tuesday, March 10, from 5:30 to 6:30pm, at Boundary Bay. If you have questions about planning needs or other ways to help, email Joy or Liz.
Tree Planting With Tulalip Tribes
Explorations Academy enjoys a great working relationship with the Tulalip Tribes in Marysville, and we love helping them out on their restoration projects when we can. At our fall tree planting event, students planted over 1,000 trees, shrubs, and stakes alongside a restored wetland area. This term’s tree planting party will happen on Tuesday, March 17. This is a day-long event, so please bring a ready-to-eat lunch with you and wear clothes appropriate for the weather and task. Unfortunately, we can’t take everyone this time, so seniors and high schoolers in the photography elective will stay behind.
Spring Course Spotlight: Let’s Dance!
Middle schoolers in Tania’s PE dance course have been having a blast learning classic couples styles such as ballroom and swing. Students are getting the hang of partner dancing, and practice non-verbal communication as they lead, follow, and dip.
Helpful Links for Parents
We have a few useful links for parents to ensure that all families are able to complete their required volunteer hours. First, there is a list of jobs that staff have identified around the building which we would love your help with. Second, we have a tracking system to record your hours. This is important for grant applications to show that we have a committed base of families pitching in to make the school wonderful. Finally, the Blisterama sheet allows you (and your child) to view and sign-up for Blisterama events coming this spring. Thank you for your help!
Photo of the Week
Casino Night was a blast, and we loved seeing all of your dressed to the nines and betting big at beautiful Lairmont Manor. Here, all bets are down as the Blackjack dealer prepares a new hand. Thanks to Leah for capturing this EA moment.
