This morning when I woke up I came downstairs and sat down in one of the three hammocks. When I was relaxing in the hammock, a dove flew on to the post that the hammock was secured to. Then another dove came in and stole the spot. After that, another dove got jealous and stole the same spot but he didn’t really want it either, he just didn’t want the other dove to have a superior spot. After we ate an amazing breakfast, prepared by Bianca, Kai, and Ava, we went out to the worksite at the … [Read more...]

I woke up this morning in the sweltering heat. I got up and went to breakfast. When I got to the table outside, I sat down and I could feel the sun melting on to my face and the birds singing to each other. We had some of the best avocado toast I have ever had. When we finished our breakfast we headed out to Eco-Alianza. We met a teacher there named Alma. She gave us a presentation on how we can use less plastic to conserve the sea. After that presentation we said our goodbyes and went to do a … [Read more...]

Henry reports about our first morning in Colca, where we would spend almost a week working with Quechua School and acclimating to the altitude and culture. The landscape was breathtaking to … [Read more...]

I absolutely love it here, the food, people, land. It’s so lovely. When we finished our fresh market food all of us looked for a place to go to lunch. After some talking … [Read more...]

I woke up, stretched a little, and looked through the window to see the sun just peeking out from the horizon, looming over the Sea of Cortez and its wildlife. We went downstairs to eat some morning tacos, as one would expect in Mexico. After a little bit of grocery shopping, we decided to go on a hike located 30 minutes out of town. It was fantastical. Mountains peppered the landscape, with 20 foot cacti erupting from the earth. We took notes and added local wildlife to our field journals and … [Read more...]
