Hello, I’m Bacchus Taylor, the Head of School. Explorations Academy is unlike any school serving middle and high school students in the Pacific Northwest. Rooted in experiential, field-based learning, our program provides students with opportunities to explore diverse subject matter, build positive relationships with peers and adults, and engage with the world around them in meaningful ways. Our main campus is nestled between the Salish Sea and the North Cascades in beautiful Bellingham, WA, but our adventures have taken us all over the world.
Our facility is an historic building located along the banks of Whatcom Creek. It comprises about 3000 square feet of classrooms, library, offices and project areas. However, much of an Explorations Academy education takes place outside our building; students average about one day per week of field outings, including local, regional, and international expeditions.
Please feel free to contact me any time if you have any questions, or simply need more information. I look forward to hearing from you!
