I did not think that I was going to like Arequipa. I had visions of it just being another big city with little to differentiate it from any other. But upon arrival, I realized that it is hard to compete with a rooftop terrace. It was like a different world up there. After almost two weeks of rustic living and temple exploring, we began our tourist life in Cusco. The group arrived in Cusco late in the afternoon, eager to explore the city. After finding our rooms and unpacking, we departed to find some dining options. I began the day with a simple yet tasteful breakfast of toast, avocado, eggs, and cactus. We then packed our bags and headed out to the dock to meet our tour guide, Juve, who knows all about the island that we would be staying at for the next two days. We got on the boat and proceeded to see flying fish and dolphins in the first five minutes. We saw huge pelicans and schools of fish as we soared across the Sea of Cortez.
